At 3:54 a.m., an eruption began in the Sundhnúksgígar crater row on the Reykjanes Peninsula. This is the ninth eruption in the area and the twelfth on the entire peninsula since March 2021, when the volcanic cycle started with the eruption of Fagradalsfjall.
